BW35 Auto Fluid leak

Hi Folks.

My BW35 box has ATF coming from many of the sump bolts even after the car has been standing for days. In desperation and to prevent the driveway and garage floor getting into a right mess, I have fabricated and fitted a drip-tray which hangs beneath the exhausts, until I can get the problem resolved.
My questions are - (1) is the breather tube checkable with the box in-situ or does it have to come out to do this ? and (2) can anyone recommend an establishment in mid or south Scotland or in the north of England who could remove my box to fit new a new seal between the Torque Convertor and the box etc. which is where I am advised the problem may lie?

Thanks Stuart - Coincidentally I'm off to Glasgow in a few minutes to see an Upholsterer about re-trimming my '34 Jowett so I'll call on Mackie and discuss options with them. Thanks again.
Cheers, Ian

Hi Stuart - just back from Glasgow - saw Mackie's and they will do the job - remove the box and torque convertor, overhaul/recondition the TC (they say if seal gone the shaft neck will have picked up and need sorting), fit new seal and put back in car for £710 +VAT. I'm happy with that so will arrange to take the car up over the next couple of months since it gets laid-up over the winter.
Thanks again. Cheers, Ian

Hi Malcolm. Didn't get as far as Halfords ! Will do as soon as I can although since car is not in use at this time (doesn't get used over the winter months) and covered up, I wouldn't be able to make use of it - presumably it needs activity in the gearbox for it to circulate and work ?. I am working 7 days a week at present restoring my '34 Jowett Tourer and anticipate this work continuing for a few more weeks. After that I will go back to the Stag and use it on any dry days we get!

I drove for only about 5 miles after putting the Wynn's additive in the gearbox, and the gear change improved a lot and its not dripped a drop of oil since.

Noted Malcolm. I have to go down to Carlisle tomorrow to drop off my Jowett running boards for sandblasting so I'll get the Wynns then and take the Stag for a spin on the next dry day. Will let you know the eventual outcome.

Hi Steve and Malcolm.
An update - FINALLY got a dry day on Tuesday and with my Jowett out of the way (at the paintshop) I have been able to address MRO's leak. Put the Wynns in and went for a run to Lockerbie and back (20 miles round trip).
LO AND BEHOLD the leak is GONE !
I have checked it each day since and NOTHING
I am staggered since I have never put much store in 'additives' of any sort.
However, it has saved me £750 at Mackie's so a BIG thanks for the suggestion
Cheers, Iandocument.write('');document.write('');

Am very pleased that it worked for you, as well.I have recommend it to many people that they have all come back with good results.
Its a pity that Wynn's don't make a additive that would sort out my painful hip.
