Dooly Sprint heads fitted to a Stag engine?

    Hi All

Chap at work today told me that remembered a batch of stags being built with uprated engines. Apparently this consisted of having two dolly sprint heads fitted to the original stag engines resulting in a 32 valve quad overhead cam engine.

Anybody know if this happened or is even possible?

    Cheers

    Bruce

I read about this on the Canley Classics site a few years ago - here is the link:

I have always harboured a desire to build a 32 valve Stag motor, it just needs to be done! To that end I have a couple of Stag V8's sitting ...

BLMC Triumph did toy with the idea of this - but by the time it was seriously considered 1973 - lack of funds mean't it was sadly shelved...

A Stag Sprint Vitesse - perhaps?

Another shelved 1973 experiment was the Triumph Toledo TS - a 2 door model with a 1.5TC engine....

A 32-valve Stag would be even more phenomenal than a Stag is already, in my humble view. It would not be a quad-cam, though, because the Sprint heads are SOHC 16-valve units. A very good design too, by all accounts.

Hi, Is it true that an early XR3 power hood fits nicely on a Stag and the only mod left to consider is the storage and release side of it.

                  Sukh.

I was told by someoneI met in a garage while I was fillingmy Stag with petrol that he had seen a Stag engine with a pair of Saab9916v heads on it. Didn't think to ask ifhe actually saw it running. :?

At that point my mind moved on to the thought of the Saab99 turbo....

What a Saab 99 Turbo Heads and Turbos on a Stag:shock:wonder if that would work once you had found a way of getting the oil to the turbo and back again that is?:?

                      It would be quick though

Great idea. Practically though it won't work as the heads have to be handed. A new casting would be required for the RH head, or some pretty nifty welding.

Twin Turbo 32v V8? Wow, that would get the boy racers interested

About 4% of activity is from a mac. Most of it is XP and the 30+% is other - presumably, Windows 7 which probably wasnt even thought of when this forum s/w was written!
