I replaced the bearing in the extension housing today which would have been a lot quicker if the ROM had been clearer!
It states that you need to 1) remove the flange then the circlip, 2)Insert drift into hollow end of quill shaft and tap out bearing and quill shaft, 3)Extract bearing from quill shaft and withdraw quill shaft rearwards.
All of this is OK until you realise that their should be another sentence (in between 2 & 3 saying, drift until bearing starts to exit the housing the perform step 3 then knock out bearing from the rear!
I was hammering for ages until I consulted with a local mechanic who commented that if there's another circlip behind the bearing hows the quill shaft going to come all the way out! Doh!:?
I also replaced the pinion oil sealat the front of the diff which was a metal cased seal with leather inside it. The replacement is from NTK (Rimmer supplied)and made of rubber/plastic is this correct?
The original was and absolute swine to remove due to the metal case the leather seal was encased in!:X
