Tonneau cover chrome strips

I am still having trouble fitting the upper chrome (maybe S.S.)strip on the tonneau cover. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo but you can probably see that the trim needs to be pushed back approximately 1 1/2 inch so that it is centred over the retaining clips.

Has anyone fitted these trim pieces and if so do you have any tips.

At the tips of the chrome strip the inside dimension is 35 inch's. If you have one of these strips that is not installed would you please check this dimension for me

Hey Dave just a thought they are not handed are they?

This is a job i am going to be doing very soon, i was hoping it was going to be easy!

I did read you need special pops to fit this trim but it looks like you using pops and washers?

Yes they are handed but it is very obvious and would be impossible to install them on the wrong side.

I am using pop rivets to hold the cup washers(sorry but I don't know how else to describe them)to the lower strip and tonneau cover

If you have your strips handy would you be able to measure the distance between the inside of the strips. As per the photo above the distance on mine in the un-installed position is 35 inch

hey Dave, measured up today and across the diagonal as shown is 34 1/4 inches but this is installed.

I will not be stripping down for a week or two, hope this helps.

A friend has an old tonneau cover with the Strips installed and he is going to bring it back from Buffalo to Toronto next week. I will not be able to see it until after our trip to the NEC,we leave Canada for England on 11/Nov.
