After shipping my car to an expert to remove my heads in the end,I now have been told my left hand cylinder head is no good as it has too much internal corrosion, this come about after testing at the machine shop.I feel a bit cheesed off to say the least as the heads had had a lot of work spent on them in 1997,there was no sign of severe corrosion on the visable outside when I looked at thembefore being shipped to the machine shop last weekand my car never run hot and always sat in the middle of the temp gauge,I do a lot of long journeys in it with no trouble at all.The reason for the removal of the heads was the slight pressure in the rad even when cold although the coolant would always return back to its normal level when cooled and there was never any coolant loss.
So could any one explain to me.
How they find internal corrosion? And if the head was that bad,how come I wasnt getting worse problems?
This is not me doubting the machine shop more a case of me wanting to learn .
Thanks for any replies.
