I agree - there is an awful lot of unseen work involved that most people never know about...

Rod Boulding. Nice guy who has done a sterling job for many years. A thankless task.

        THANK YOU ROD!

I think the committee ought to be very careful before appointing another volunteer from amongst the membership to be the next editor. When things go wrong in such circumstnces it is all but impossible to chastise a volunteer.

Ok, it would cost to go outside the club to engagea professional organisation, but unless this is doneI very much doubt the problemsthe magazine has suffered from will ever be solved.

I don't know Rod or his background but it seems it is going to take two people to replace him, an editor and a typesetter. Parts of the job may be straightforward but to mould reports from up to 46 area coordinators and eight regional ones into 'Out and About' , and to deal with late submissions, in a very tight time-frame cannot have been easy.

                  Thanks Rod

With my magazine received today, there was loose note stating that 'the editor was asked to relinquish his position'....doesn't sound very nice!

As it was a voluntary position, unpaid, was it really necessary to state that to all the members?

I don't know the circumstances, or Rod, but to me it translated to 'the current editor was crap, the magazine was always late, so we have got rid of him. Anyone fancy the role?'

If I was Rod, I would be very upset:X

Everything seems involved and complicated, rules and regs, nasty swipes,it seems a long way from just enjoying your car.

Sorry to mention this but I keep seeing posts saying thatSOC committee are all voluntary. Whilst that is true of some, my understanding is that it does not apply to the mag Editor and a few other posts too. I am sure the editor was made well aware of the shortcomings of the magazine, and whilst it is always sad to let someone go, the members must come first. The committee should be commended for making a difficult but necessary decision and acting on it.

That puts a different light on it, when someone is paid to do a job and it not up to a set standard then heads must roll......

Okay if the role was not voluntary...but why then request the services of another club member(s) for the role, and only if notakers the job is to go to 'commercial tender?' or is it the case a club member can get the 'job', 'get paid money to due it' one would assume if not voluntary, without any competition?...that does not sound right surely!

All this needs explaining to the members!
