Quarterlight window fitting - help!!

Hi All

Been trying to replace drivers side quarterlight as the spindle had sheared off my old one.
Got the old QL out and banged the spindle downwards to remove it.
Trying to get the new QL in and I can't get the spindle to pass through the hole in the frame.
It goes in about an inch and then stops, I have been banging it to try and get it to go down, but worried about hitting it too hard:shock:

Am I missing something here? Any tips appreciated.

Al,

Have you released the two little spring clamps that grip the spindle? Or it could be you are hitting the gearbox that opens and closes the quarterlight. Remove the door trim and remove the gearbox, then once the quarterlight is back in the frame, replace the gearbox.

Hi Raoul,
How are you doing?
Gearbox is not in at the mo, but spring clamps? How do you release these? Do you have to remove the whole window frame?

Al,

They are held to the frame by a stud and nut, they are usually corroded. I'm not sure if you can loosen the nutwith the frame in the car. Worth a look with a torch and mirror though.

I had to remove the frame in the end, but only got to do it once.
