Why Are Easy Jobs Never Easy?

Took the retaining bar off he battery to rub it down and repaint it. The rod that goes into the wing had been replaced with a length of threaded rod bent to form the hook at the bottom. It took me over an hour of bending my wrist the wrong way before it went back on:X.

Took the car for a spin this morning the new coil has cured the cutting out I was getting. Haven't driven it with the soft top up for a while, seems more noisy than with the roof down.

Why did you want to paint your battery?

Isn't that one of the joys of Stag ownership - continuous different challenges?

As to the car being noisier with the hood up, I agree. I have been putting on new door seals and adjusting the hood and window frames to try and get it all a bit tighter and less draughty and hopefully quieter:?

I have Steve (Stagdad) riding with me on the London Run, so didn't want him going home with a crick in his neck:shock::shock:

      Rgds....Al.

Hi Phil, next time, remove the offside outer headlight and bowl, 5 minutes, then you can easily get to the bottom of that clamp - s easees. Martin.

I had that problem twice on Saturday!:X

If you don't mind a hijack - I am interested to see if your problem was similar to mine.

It runs great for 3-4 miles then starts to feel a bit lumpy. come to a stop and the engine dies and will not restart. Wait 5 mins and it starts. and no the bottom of the coil is NOT resting on the engine block.

I serviced it recently and installed a new Lucarse cap and distributor. I am thinking that the old coil would look better in the engine bay :?

Yes that sounds exactly the same.

The motorway is about a mile from me and just as I pulled out to overtake the string of lorries the engine just died. Scary for a while trying to get back to the hard shoulder.

I had been having the carbs flooding so had assumed this was the problem but after stripping and balencing the carbs the car still stopped.

Since fitting the new coil its been fine so far
