    HOOD - again.

Hi all, does anyone here know if replacing/repairing the rear window zip is an economical prospect, and if so, can anyone recommend somebody to do it, and at what cost ? Not mine I hasten to add. Martin.

    Hi Martin

Relatively easy job for any good trimmer - had mine done on my previous car and the guy fitted a new Zip in about 1hour.

Bit of a run to south wales to get your Zip fitted but worth a phone around.

It is a long job to remove and refit the cover, then you have the costs of the machinist to pay. Worth it if the cover is really good though, and then you can recon the frame while it is off.

I had a hood recently with a broken zip. I had thought about repairing it in-situ and I bought a special stitching tool (Speedy Stitcher available in boat chandlers). In the end I decided to strip the coveroff anyway so never tried it, but its a cheap option if you have a day spare.

Thanks Chris, apparently it's a good hood but DIY isn't an option. Great artical in the mag. Martin.
