    Magazine: Out and About

This month there were 23 pages dedicated to covering what members have been 'up to' locally.

The Notts/Derby section were clearly very active, as they submitted nearly five pages of report.

Perhaps there should be an award for the longest reports each month.

I've just been thinking about the Magazine and I must admit that I tend to flick through it and find that most of it is pretty irrelevant to me. My favorite parts were always the KingPin articles because they dealt with the central reason for the magazine’s existence; the car itself.

So, how about some more informative articles? Maybe a monthly ‘reader’s restoration’s’ section, or a historical section dealing with various facets of the car’s history/interesting stories of BL/Triumph etc. Maybe also an improvements/alterations article each month on ‘how to do it’ with a step-by-step guide and diagrams; there are so many modifications out there which could fill the pages for several years!

These are just a few of my ideas; the rest of you must have some good thoughts too?!

There was 1 1/2 pages on caring for your hood Good read but it could have stretched to 23 pages with pictures and diagrams

          How about it Chris

I've sent in twice now to new and old editor an article on my misfortune with the steering rack with photos to explain the outcome of my dismantling to investigat the rack locking up

I would have thought that would have been interesting to other owners:shock:

I have said it before but In think a letter page would work well it would encourage people towrite in and share there problems and good experiences with there car this could then lead to people sending in articles like Chris (v-mad )

Roger, Icould have droned onif I thought it was that interesting to people; I would not need much encouragement. You will probably already have to suffer two more hood articles on hoods.

I think the following would be useful:

How to open the tonneau when the cable is broken
How to open the bonnet when the cable snaps/how to fit second cable
How to rewire headlights and/or fit relays

I have not come across the first two problems, but I would try these ideas (unproven though)

Tonneau: Take out the rear seat base. Undo the two screws at the base of a cubby panel. Pull the panel forwards until you can get your arm underneath, and release the tonneau catch by hand. Do the ssame the other side and the tonneau should release?

Bonnect: Get a can opener (no only joking). Prevention is better than cure: make sure cable is in good condition; install a backup cable that can be accessed somehwere when the bonnet is closed.

Headlight Electrics: Yes I can write one on this. I have done a couple of H4 conversions which use changeover relays. Is that what you had in mind?
