Spot on, but the pub I'm after used to be on the corner of Malcolm Place, off Cambridge Heath Road by the railway bridge and the road I was born in which is no longer there, which was Entick Street. From memory it may have been The Green Man but not sure where I got that from..thanks for your help btw.I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!

Jeff,
This is the view in Google Maps.

If you drop into street view you can see there is no pub in what seems to be the same corner as your photo.
I would guess that the photo is pre-war and that Uncle Gerry had something to do with the demise of much of the architecture sometime between 1939 and 1945.

Sorry Dave, bit of a bum steer there. The pic is of Club Row pet market top of Brick Lane, I posted that in case it jogged some memories, although it's a very old photo, I do remember going there with my Grand Dad, I'm 57...................Jesus! Am I that old???

I was born there in 1951 and moved in 1961. The pub was gone when we moved but was there around 1956 as I remember looking in. Entick Street was covered over about 10 years after, if I remember right. Only going back now and again saw the change. Now, even the kerb stones are not showing a road used to be there.I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!

Sorry, I seemed to have confused some by posting that photo which is not of the road I am enquiring about. Dave has kindly Googled the correct location I am after. If you can see the green grass area of the park, including the circle of grass, that used to be a paddling pool with no grass there at all.
If you do the street view from Cambridge Heath road, to the left is a brick built publc toilet............................that's where my house was.
I must say, what a great response I have got from you all, much appreciated!

It was all a massive bomb site when I went there in the early and mid 50's. We always use to goto Club Rowbefore moving on to the Lane, then home on the tube from Liverpool St. I remember my Uncle bought us some double blankets from Club Row as a wedding present. I never told him but they would only cover a small single bed without a tuck in.
My other Uncle who was from Leytonstone turned up at our home home one Sunday morning with a goat he'd bought at Club Row. He lived in a council house, and my aunt chucked him and the goat out. He had to abandon it in a field out our way in Essex taking it there in his Ford Pop.

Jeff, this may be a long shot but radio London 94.8 have a show on each day hosted by Robert Elms 12.00 - 15.00pm part of that show is a ' notes and queries' section and your question is just the sort of thing they like to find answers too, but as i say a long shot
