Crap universal joints on ebay

Stuart has confirmed he fitted new UJs just 2000 miles ago and one has already failed. They were purchased as GKN joints from MEV Spares and their advert is still on the web with a picture of a pair of UJ's and GKN boxes. Unfortunately it appears the box is the only genuine part as the joints are stamped CHB. It looks like these are thieving b*stards to be best avoided.

I ordered a pair of uprated UJ's from EJ Wards and these have arrived without box but are stamped GKN and it can be seen from their construction that they are a far superior product but cost nearly £10 extra each.

I would far rather spend the extra money and not spend the rest of my life replacing sub standard crap:X

Hi Neil

Which UJ have you replaced as the UJ's I had replaced locally where from E bay and defiantly GKN Manufacture (DJT bought the same ones).

I gave the half shafts to a local garage to do the UJ's (all 4) so it sounds like not all of them were replaced:shock:.

Or the garage messed up, damaged a uj cup, and replaced the uj's you supplied with cheapo alternatives

Both outer UJ's are definately new ones- still clean and shiney. The inner onesare rusty and don't appear to have any grease nipples fitted so I assumed they were original, but since there was nothing wrong with them I didn't pay too much attention
