Removal of clock on dash, whats the best way

Gent's how do you remove the clock from the dash board, do you have to remove the wooden dash face or can you pop the dials out. Have refrained from trying this in case I damage the veneer

undo the four screw's on the face of the dash, also pull off the rheostat switch, pull the dash forward so you can get to the dials, unscrew the retaining clamp from the clock dial unclip the two wires and push forward - simples,

also easier if you drop the steering to the lowest setting to give a bit more access

I'd disconnect the battery while you do this, just incase something live touches the metalwork. It would be a shame to melt the wiring loom back to the battery..

                Cheers,

                Andy.

Or just wrap some pvc tape around the hammer head - the Mk2 clock has a plastic case so that reduces the risk from shorting to shrapnel....

Re 'just incase something live touches the metalwork', I remember once having a very intermittent electrical problem behind the N/S dash of my first Stag. I'd removed the passenger parcel tray to improve access.

Driving down the M4, the problem occurred (don't remember what) so - bit ashamed to say now - reached over to wiggle wires to try and identify fault. Suddenly excruciating pain in left arm as my metal watch strap managed to short circuit something :shock:

                    You live and learn !
