What's this electrical connection for?

What's this electrical connection for? Its located at the rear of the engine on the drivers side bank.

Is that on the water transfer housing?
If so I would have thought it was a water temperature sender.

Could be completely wrong though!

at a geuss would appear someone had fitted another temp sender/switch.usualy just blanked off at that point.

You must have a very early Stag or at least that part is, it's the temp sender for the overheating light on the warning cluster only used on very early Stags, I think about the first 1,000 or so, later disregarded at it was unreliable.
