    Brooklands Green

I just bough a green Stagwith paint code 75 Brooklands Green. Does anyone have a picture of a car they can postin this colour? Minehas been resprayed in the past so the shade may have changed.

I intend to keep it original, but I would like to see the colour before I commit.

The stripe is silver, and the interior is beige.

Isn't code 75 British Racing Green rather than Brooklands?

    What year is the car?

The car was first registered in 1978 when Brooklands Green with Beige interior was in use.

        Hi Chris

My 1976 Stag is code 75 and I've always known it as Brooklands

The attached photo will give you a good idea of the shade. Failing that, nip into Halfords and look at their own brand Brooklands Green (Rover). I've used it to touch up mine and its more or less bang on

          Hi V Mad,
Thurlo Squire is correct, as according to the text in a reference book, entitled 'The Original Triumph Stag' by James Taylor, '75' is British Racing Green.
Brooklands Green has a three letter code 'HAE'.
          I hope that helps.
          Regards,
          Frank

              Hi Chris,

I'm intrigued by this - not least because I'd like to know for sure what colour my car is!

I've always wondered what the difference between BRG & Brooklands was and nearly posted that question a few weeks ago.

Like Nigel, I thought 75 was BRG. Mine is paint code 75and I guess it's a similar age to yours. LD 43620 (late 76 build, 77 model year?) But, as you say, it seems that 77 model year should have been Brooklands.

Mine's been resprayed, but it's clear that the colour is virtually identical to the original. You've seen a pic of mine and it looks the same as yours, but you can't tell much from just a picture.

So, I guess my guestions may be similar to yours - is 75 really BRG and were 76/77 model year car BRG or Brooklands? James Taylor's 'Restorer's guide' even indicates that there were no Green cars - other than Java, but I think we can all tell ther difference there - for 76 model year.

Yes if it's a '78 registered car then I guess '77 build which would have been Brooklands, so maybe code 75 was also used for Brooklands?

I have been trying to find a picture of the last production stag which had the reg BOL**V but with no luck, this car was in Brooklands green and has not been touched

James Taylors 'original restorers guide' states

BRG paint code 75 trim Biege or Black with gold stripe

Brooklands paint code HAE trim Beige or Chestnut with gold stripe

My original 1977 Leyland workshop manual shows paint code 75 as British Racing Green - although it makes no mention of Brooklands green.

                      Confused ???

but on this list there is not even a mention of BRG but then in the lower year by year list it shows BRG

I have seen the colours next to each other and Brooklands was a lot darker than BRG (notthat helps you)

                          Hi Chris

The listing that youreferred to doesn't seem to make any mention of British Racing Green.

Just a thought -I wonder if BRG & Brooklands are identical and Leyland just changed the name ??

Just about to send this when I saw Ian's post - now more confused than ever !
