    Label for top of air filter box

    I have purchased a brand new label to go on the top of the recently refurbished air filter box in my white Stag. This reminds me (in four languages no less) not to remove the radiator filler plug or the overflow bottle pressure cap whilst the engine is hot. These sort of reminders become ever more important when you get to my age.

    Now the question arises as to which is the correct way to affix the label - is it either (a) so I can read it from the nearside of the car or (b) so I can read it from the offside?

    I realise this topic may not be so vitally important as how best to removeone's gearbox when it breaks down half way up Mont Blanc, but I should be grateful to know the answer from any of you out there who may have researched this before.

    I have no idea of the correct way to fit it - however the logical way would be to fix it so that you can read it from the nearside (on a right-hand drive car) which is the side you would be more likely to stand when undoing the rad cap or the filler plug.

    i'm sure someone will give a definitive answer......

      Got bored in work today so made a few phone calls and looked at a few adverts on Ebay. Concenus of opinion is ..place it so you can read it from the nearside. Good job you checked ..these thing are important

        Unfortunately Cherished Classics haven't put any underbonnet pictures of the 'Unregistered' Stag on their website.

        I have a copy of 'The Original Triumph Stag' at home, but won't have access until Friday if you can wait that long . Looking at the recent photos I took for insurance purposes, mine is readable from the Offside, and I am fairly sure I referred to the above book before I stuck it on.

            The Cherished Classics stag.

            Maybe the guy on the production line stuck them on upside down every now and again to make the job more interesting.

              Highly likely, Pete. Either that or they couldn't read, or couldn't care less.

              Nearside does make sense. Another job for the next airbox re-paint .

                Well, thank you all for that most interesting discussion. I shall go with the nearside which, as it happens, is the way I stuck the label on my red Stag a couple of years ago.

                  My label was tatty and I thought the info pointless so I stripped it off, painted the air-box, bought a Rover V8 badge on E-bay for £2 and stuck it on. Looks good and at least informative for open bonnet events.
