Kingpin

On page 30 of the October magazine Kingpin says"it was great to talk to so many members at National Day..." The question is - did they know they were talking to the mysterious Kingpin or did he remain anonymous? As far as I can recall - using the report in the mag. and my failing memory - if he was there in his professional capacity he could only be either John Ward of E.J.Ward or the Tune-up firm. Does anyone know who that was, or have any other suggestions as to Kingpin's identity?

The subtitle says "what do I put here?" because I didn't know where the requested "description" would appear. It should really have said "Has he revealed his identity at last?"

I got mine, haven't read it thoroughly yet. I thought it might be John Ward but not so sure now. Must get my Stag booked in there for a tune up!

I think Kingpin is an umbrella namefor a panel of experts, coordinated and edited by Mike Allen. Only a guess though.

hazell_privateye isthinking aboutthe Technical Panel. It isn't much in evidence these days asmost written queries seem to be addressed to Kingpin and he does such a good job replying to them.I believe he's just one person -someone whoruns his own repair business. There are frequent references to that in his articles. Apart from his being at National Day I don't have anything else to go on.

Mike Allen is still the Technical Co-ordinator and provides technical help by phone. He is definitely not Kingpin though. He told me recently that he thoughthe knew who it was but theperson in question denied it. Of course you may think he'd do that if he wanted to remain anonymous. Our editor, Rod, claims he doesn't even know who Kingpin is.

Maybe the clue is in the name. If it was Big-end or Piston-broke it would narrow it down a bit.
