Yeh, after my top-end rebuild I lost the sealing insert, and decided to run it without the sensor while everything was bedding in - never bothered to replace it as it was running so well and leak-free (famous last words!)

You could well be correct:?. It was already installed in that position when we bought the car. I have never known the Kenlowe come on in the two years we have had it. I know it functions correctly in manual mode. Perhaps I will add that you my ever growing list of jobs to do over the winter:shock:

        Cheers

Well, its up and running now Just in time for the minus 16 temperatures they are forecasting for around here on Sunday/Monday.

On the initial trial the the pump kept becoming air locked. So I have relocated it lower down adjacent to the pre-heater so that it has a greater head of water and also installed two bleed valves in the top hoses where they emerge from the heater matrix and enter the rear of the engine. The valves have been great for removing air out of the hot system.

          Regards

Well, the pre-heater in the GT6 was used for the first time in anger this morning . It was bitterly cold as I switched it on for 30 minutes at 7am. At 7:30am the thermostat housing was too hot to touch, the front half of the engine was nice and warm and the rear half was well on the way. All water hoses hot except the radiator top feeds.

Tried starting her without choke but she would not fire. So used the choke and she fired straight away and then pushed the choke back in immediately and she idled okay.

Driving her into work was a transformation with warm air coming out of the blower and I only needed the choke once.

Tomorrow I will leave it on for 45 minutes and see if she will start without any choke. I imagine the engine will be warmed all the way through by that time.

Wish I had £170 spare so as to be able to fit one to the Stag as well.

              Regards

              Bruce
