    Water Pump - old chestnut N° 2

    Yeah, me again!

I've got the water pump out and given it the once over. I've read all of the threads and articles on the shafts, machining, 12 vane vs. 6 vane etc., but am not sure what exactly I need to be doing with this one:

    1) Impellor is in an awful state. Corroded, pitted etc.
    2) Shaft is fantastic. Mesh pattern like textbook. No scoring. Pictures don't do it justice.
    3) Cover has apparently seen some high temperature vane scuffing? (bluish rainbow coulouring and pitting)

I gather that the way to go is rebuild of mine with new cover, new impellor, overhaul kit. DIY?

Not sure what the "machining service" is that's offered by various peops- do I need that if I fit new cover and impellor?

    Thanks as usual in advance!

    Drew

      Hi Drew

Have a look at the attached to see your options. I have machined mine andam very pleased and know that it will last longer modified. Please also note at the bottom of the link there is a link to the pump parts needed.

Don't rush this and as you havegot this far, it will be very satisfying when done

      Good luck
