Alternative seats

I bidded on a set of front and rear seats on Ebay. Agreed with seller to have them picked up from his garage Saturday 11.00 am (02/01/10) Birmingham.

Drove all the way to Birmingham then waited 31/2 hours for him to turn up.

He then started making excuses about the storage companybeing closed and blah blah.... he did not ring me nor emailed me about this prior to my going there. He had loads of other seats at the garage but not my set????.

He had a moan about how he was expecting £700.00 for them and they only sold for far less. I came back empty handed:X:X:Xcost me and my brother-in-law the whole day and 50 quid fuel...

What can I do about this? will Ebay do anything?....

I don't care what anyone says (I don't give a F&%k) but never deal with pakistanis, I am Indian and my brother-in-law is pakistani and HE was the one who warned me before we went that he does not trust them... should have listened...:X

Ebay wont do sod all as they are only interested in getting their cut speaking from experience ! I would jsut leave really bad negative feedback as thats all you can really do.

I must admit i am fed up with the whole ebay thing as i have had my fingers burnt on there twicelately selling a few things.

Sukhi, I have filed two complaints with ebay and on both occasions had full compensation. Leaving negative feedback feels good but will not get yourcosts back.

Did he have a good vendor rating (feedback)? If he does, dont despair, get what you deserve. If he has little or no positive feedback its probably not worth trying and you will probably learn not to deal with people without a track record.

1. Send a message to the buyer telling him that as he did not fulfil his part of the bargain,ask for reasonable compensation. Give him 1 week to respond, and tell him you will take proceedings if he does not play ball.

2. Follow the ebay complaints procedure and file a complaint. If they can get you compensation they will.

3. Presumably you didnt pay before collecting, but if you have paid through Paypal you have a very strong case.

Hi All, Remember the moan I had about the seats the chap won't sell, well Ebay must have got in touch with him.

He has sent me a message to pick up the seats, no mention of the refund of the cost of the first trip to Birmingham...ebay item 330388876935.

shallI go for it? Do you like the seats? .Are they a bit too much? What is the general opinion?.

I can't answer your question, but make sure you take printed copies of hte photos from ebay with you to verify that the seats you are paying for are the ones you get!

they certainly look good and a great price but, as to whether they fit only you know that (I Hope) the problem with a lot of modern seats is they are too wide at the top, it's surprising just how small the stag is compared with cars today, even my Wife's VW Golf was wider than the stag.

Great looking seats but Ian is right the Stag is really narrow compared to modern cars. Not sure how you would get on with the back seat.

Hi Sukh,

Your decision. But why is the car being broken? The front view of the car shows it undamaged, but then that is a different car - grey seats. A good 2007Eos with leather goesfor around 17k and would be fairly badly damaged to warrant a CatA write-off.

Also theebay posting doesn't say whether the auction is for all 4 seats or just the front ones.

After your previous experience I wouldbe on my guard.

A couple of years back I bid and won an Ebay auction for a set of good condition Leather Rover coupe seats not too far away. £30 - a bargain!

Rang the seller up to collect and he said " I'm really sorry, I left them outside and it rained and they have all mould over them"

"Thats OK, I'll still take them, it will clean off OK" I said.

"Sorry but they were so mouldy I just took them to the Dump yesterday" he said

Lying Bas***d, they didn't make what he wanted so he didn't let them go. Went thru all the Ebay complaint procedure - nothing! they sided with him and thought it was reasonable if they were mouldy. I put a watch on the seller and sure enough the 'mouldy' seats reappeared 3 months later by which time I had a better set anyway.

I think unless the seller has actually taken your money, which does not happen with 'collect' auctions, Ebay will not take any action. - Alan

I reckon the whole deal is dodgy, he probably hadn,t stolen the car by the time you first went there.I would make an appointment and then not turn up,see how he likes being messed about.
