You should keep the Stag in the boot of the Ford...... in case of breakdowns

Lovely, and now you can save fuel by driving the Stag.

Always wanted a drive in a Mustang., but whenever I went to America I always ended up with a Camaro.
BE HONEST NOW & TELL ME WHICH IS THE NICEST CAR TO DRIVE - THE MUSTANG OR THE STAG?.

Thanks guys! Seems there is approval from everyone!

I've wanted a 'stang nearly as long as I've wanted a Stag. I've had my Stag 10+ years now and wouldn't ever want to sell it.

The Mustang is a 1966 Coupe with the 289ci (4.7litre)V8 and automatic'tranny'. Its rated at around 200bhp (when new). Driving it is a completely different experience to the Stag. It has non-power assisted steering which is lighter than the Stag (yes really). Its steering experience is similar to that of a barge... lots of turning but little change in direction, due to a poor steering ratio (going to have to get that sorted).

Power wise, it certainly shifts, even for 40+ years, but handling is akin to the afore-mentioned barge. They really don't like corners.

The brakes... errrr 'drums all round' and not power-assisted! It does stop... but I'm not overly happy about how good they are. There is a disc brake conversion kit for them though.

The car does need work. Its in a similar condition to the Stag when I bought that several years ago... i.e. a rolling restoration. Parts are surprisingly cheap.. and more surprisingly cheaper than the equivalent part on the Stag. I guess this may be due to the number of these cars still about and the number of suppliers.

Finally.. that V8 burble... Its deeper and throatier than the Stag, but I still prefer the Stag...

                            Regards

                            Chris

Hi Chris, I agree about the noise - The Stag is the best sounding V8. Even with a de-cat, I dont think my RV8 sounds as good.

That looks like a huge garage you have there. Is the car on the left a fun one as well?
