Dont worry about welding stainless exhausts with mild steel wire. I built the exhausts and manifolds for my stag powered TR 14 years ago and the welds still haven't rusted through and nothing has cracked yet either

      Hello

If you can Mig weld 'Stainless' with mild wire -Then it aint Stainless. more correctly this is 'bright' steel or semi- stainless. And anyone selling it as stainless is not telling you the truth.

I usually find that the spot welder will join stainless to stainless. Again as a lot of exhausts are actually bright this make welding easier.

      Martin.

        Thanks Martin

I have no idea why the tabs have broken off the tailpipe but can confirm that they are thick and are not magnetic.

Are the tabs supposed to be the same as the boot floor hooks? Mine were just straight forward tabs with a slight bend at the end to stop them coming off

        Cheers

        Andrew

          Hello
5 or 6mm wire loops are always fave. Flat tabs will tend to stress fracture.

A goodly squirt of zinc spray or something similar will hold off the rust.
