    Cleaning Expansion Bottle

    Hi folks,
I am trying to clean up my old plastic expansion bottle and finding it difficult to get the inside clean.

Have any of you done this before ?All the old crud from the cooling system has congealed inside.

    Thanks for any tips,

    Ken

    Dishwasher?

Just make sure the missus doesn't catch you...

Soaking the inside with some caustic soda might loosen things up a bit first, but give it a good rinse before the dishwasher...

Well , being impatient,I tried numerous kitchen cleaning products .I found Cillit Bang Power Cleaner Grime and Lime with the aid of a dish cleaning brush to work extremely well.
Thought I would share this in case there are any other OCD types who fancy cleaning obscure parts of the car

Did mine in the dishwasher, it also made a good job of the fan.

I have heard that biological washing powder (for washing machines) can work miracles on oily plastic bits...

NOTE: I have HEARD that this is the case but not tried it myself... No liability accepted, etc.

                  Thanks for the tips guys,
I have got the bottle pretty clean , now time to move on to the rest of the bits I am taking off
I am still at the stage of removing,cleaning/repainting ,labelling and storing ready for refitting in ,oh probably 2 or 3 years time by which time I hope the body will have been sorted.
