Light weight Stag - Plugging holes?

I've recently removed a towbar and all associated support brackets/wiring so now my Stag goes faster but I have a few holes in the boot due to the bolts used to secure the towbar.

I'm planning on cleaning them up & painting them to avoid rusting thenfilling them with rubber PVC grommets, but does anyone have any other advice, short of welding (I have zero welding experience)?

I had a towbar and did exactly the same as you plugged them with grommets. This way any future owner can refit a towbar with ease. You dont see them anyway, so good idea

I wouldn't bother welding up the holes, give the grommets a lick of wax before you fit them to stop the tinworm and improve the seal.

One more question, PVC or rubber? (no other hobbies need mentioning here:shock

The only difference I can find is that PVC tend to be more shiny, are domed and don't generally accomodate thicker metal.

Rubber ones I've found cater for 1-6mm thick while PVC ones cater for 0.8 to 3.2mm

Seems rubber is more common but don't know which is better for car body application.

Proper old fashioned rubber will eventually perish, but is more original ( relatively -seeing as the holes are not)

The lick of wax injection should ensure a good seal.
