The stag has been a pain in the *rse to start when cold, more or less since I got it. Investigation revealed one half of the twin choke cable had failed resulting in it only wanting to start on 4 cylinders. Ordered a new choke cable- HOW MUCH?
Fitting is not the easiest of jobs and after a couple of hours of messing about I was ready to give it a try.
Imagine my joy and delight when I pulled the knob and the bloody thing came straight off in my hand.:X:X:X The cables were not swaged in properly. To make matters worse when removing it again the piece of wood that had obviously been lovingly crafted to make the stereo fit has come adrift, which means loads more work to refit the stereo.
I am now waiting for the supplier to send a new cable but this time I am going to use one with the seperate knob as the first one that failed was also the integral knob type.
The seperate knob type is much easier to fit, I have temporarily fitted a rather frayed example from my estate, so at least the bloody thing starts now, but will all need doing again shortly. Oh the joys of repro components
