    New valves and valve guides

    Hi folks

Just been advised by the engine rebuilder who is sorting my heads out that the valves and guides are worn and could do with replacement. The seats themselves have almost low wear and he is not inclined to replace those.

I'm going to be supplying the parts myself but am wondering whether to go for standard or bronze valve guides? I guess the latter dissipate the heat better but are they softer and do they wear out faster?

On the valves front, most of the suppliers seem to quote similar prices for valves at around £3.50 for inlet, £4.70 for exhaust. The exhausts are quoted by Rimmers et at as being suitable for unleaded - does this mean they are stainless steel? If not, would anyone recommend going for stainless steel instead and if so, from where?

Your opinions, as always, are greatly appreciated!
Once I get the thing running reliably again perhaps I'll see some of you to thank you personally for your input at one of the various meets!

    James
