Gearbox off this weekend

order any parts/gaskets/seals I need

Put them in on Saturday next weekend

Gearbox back on on Sunday

Go for a drive in the afternoon!!!

So where are you going for your drive on Sunday?Still on track Al?

As it is the crank shaft oil seal the chap who rebuilt my engine is going to do this and give me a hand to put the gearbox back on, so probably won't happen at the weekend.

Just coming down from a major high as i have been preping my engine bay and was spraying degreaser followed by brake and clutch cleaner .Effective but it got past my mask :shock:

I think it was a bad seal.
I have one from LD Parts now, and it has different markings on it so assume it is a different (hopefully better) make.

Any tips on fitting one?

Mine was from LD and was just a good push fit untill flush with the housing.I guess if you dont want to remove the housing you could lever out the old one with a screw driver driven into the face of the seal but are you sure the housing gasket was sealed properly.I would redo it if i were you.

I have a housing gasket as well and going to run some well seal on the back of the sump gasket just in case.
Do you have to smear the new oil seal with oil or does it go in dry?

Its a Trevor meeting combined with the Lotus Owners Club. They are opening the breakfast place especially for us! Havent a clue how many people are going but I am looking forward to the drive. I just hope I can keep-up!

Managed to keep up most of the time - the car did at least. I was a bit more hesitant!!!
