    Idle speed

Fitted a new throttle cable recently and now I can't seem to get the idle speed below 900 rpm. Unscrewed the two idle speed screw on each side of the carbs but can't get it to tickover lower. If you manually pull the levers back a fractionit drops down to 650-750. Is something sticking? The throttle cable and both choke cablesdon't seem to be stopping it releasing.

    Cheers

Hiya Des, if yours is an auto, you may have disturbed the kickdown cable, the accelerator cable may have unseatedit's outer at the carb end or is adjusted a smidgen to tight. After fitting a new cable somethingWILL be disturbed, you may even need to alter the length of the rods. Firstly I would disconnect the cable and see if that restores normality. Martin.

      Hi Martin

It's manual, so no kickdown to worry about. There's some slack in the throttle cable which I need to take up, so I know that's not stopping it. So many links, return springs etc around, might still be one of them. Did clean up quite a bit while I had them off though :?

I had trouble getting my tickover down once, turned out to be the knuckle not screwed onto the fixed carb link enough, holding the valve open slightly all the time.

VMad sorted this out for me in the car park at Brands Hatch when we had the gathering last year.

Hi Des, I thought the rod lengths might be wrong. There's only one return spring, up high, it's the co-axial one. Good luck. Martin.
