Stag brake caliper identical to Ford Transit?

    Good morning everybody,

is it right that Ford Transit brake calipers are the same as the ones on the Stag? The picture shows the Ford caliper.

Both seem to come from Lockheed and if I am not mistaken the Ford-No. is 1587 092. Any idea what years? 1971 to ...?

    Kind regards, Dieter.

    Hi Dieter,

A quick search of the QH catalogue shows that the same front pads are listed for the following vehicles:

    Rover SD1 1976-81

    Vauxhall Ventora/Victor/4-90 1971-1977

    Bedford CF Van 1984-1988

    Leyland Sherpa Van 1980-89

    LDV Van 1989-1992

    Reliant Scimitar 1980-1982

    Ford Transit 1965-1976, 1976-1985, 1985-1991

Can't find a cross-reference for the calipers, unfortunately.

      Hello Dave,

If you look for "Ford Transit brake calipers" (in ebay.uk) or "Ford Transit Bremszangen" (in ebay.de). You will see pictures like the one I posted.

      Kind regards, Dieter.

        Hi Dieter,

The pads are the same - LP45

Lockheed book says LP45 for Ford Transit 80 from 1976 to 1986 also 100 with 2 piston caliper.

        BUT!!

My Lockheed Brake and Clutch Hydraulics book states:

Triumph Stag Caliper Assy: original ref 4265-011 (RH) and 4265-012 (LH) AP Lockheed ref
: NLA - no longer available.

        Ford Transit 80 1976 - 1986 original ref: 4265-026 (LH) and 4265-025 (RH) AP Lockheed ref: LC6345 and LC6344

Both are listed as 57mm diameter??

Unipart nos for the Stag are GBC7588E and GBC7589E for the transit they are GBC6048E and GBC6049E

I don't know what the difference is. Could it be the thickness of the disc??

I say this because I know a Citroen saxo VTR caliper will fit a Peugeot 106 1.1 and the pads are the same- they look identical ExCEPT the Saxo has vented discs so needs to be wider - 10mm. The piston assy is the same and I have swapped bits to mak them fit.

Anyone know if the 1976 Transit 80 had vented discs???

        Hope this helps

        Roger

I've had a few Transits but don't recall any having vented discs.

Having restored an MGB GT I remember the calipers look identical and use the same pads, seal kits and pins etc -
