Just got the history of the other 15 owners of my car

Well according to the records mine started out with a3528cc enginealthough the engine no hasn't changed:?.It was a auto ,which could be true as theLd no ends in a bw

and the regplate was 78** KC untill 1997

Its been all over the country and from 1980 -1984 it changed hands 4 times:shock:.

Well at least the stray has found a steady home now.:P

    Is 16 owners a record?

    Cheers Steve

    Hello Steve

I beat you by two, just. My Stag was brought into Northern Ireland in 2000, but sold on before registration here. So 17 according to the records but I know its really 18. And one of these was a one day trade. And then I begin to wonder if there is only one name missing. Registered in Sept 73 in Westmoreland, but owned in Bishop Auckland, Durham. Moved to Birmingham as a six year old. Had a new/replacement engine in 84, and a complete bare metal job in 92. Same owner to 2000, when it emigrated fromNottingham to this part of the world.I have had it since 2004, with no real problems.

Fascinating how much info the DVLA search provides.

Now the interesting bit Steve...trying to contact all those previous owners and asking them for any history...mods...photos etc. I ended up sending them all a form and a polite covering letter. Eventually ended up meeting upone of them at a car show last year.

      Good luck

Is this an on-line search or do you have to put in a request to the DVLA?

Nah you have to do it the old fashioned way by filling in a form and sending them a cheque for a fiver.

          Form V888 available here

It is an interesting exercise. From the information that came back from DVLA when matched alongside old MOT's and other paperwork it really was possible to piece the cars history together.

It spent 10 years "resting" in the 2nd owners garage as it developed engine trouble and I think it waspretty much forgotten about for that time.

David ,what did he think of his old car?

For me one guy stick out from all the rest as he had it 8 years and most of my invoices in the folder that came with it are in his name so i may start there.

                      Cheers Steve

It was quite poignant really. He hadn't seen the car for 20 years and was really pleased it was still running. He had sold it to a garage ownerwho in turn had sold it to a small car museum in N. Wales. I let him sit in andfire upthe engine.... think I could have sold it back to him there and then!
