    Vacuum connections

My Stag is a Federal model with lots of vacuum points. I have removed the Emission Control system already. I am going to remove the temperature switch for vacuum in the radiator and run just the mechanical advance on the distributor. There is no vacuum advance on this distributor, only vacuum retard.

My car has been fitted with a carburettor from a Mustang by a PO. This does have a normal vacuum and a ported vacuum. The question is: Do I need ported vacuum? If so, how should it be connected?

Also, the climate control system was probably connected wrong before as there was a T-piece connecting before and after the non-return valve... I have set it so the only thing beeing run by the vacuum reservoir (after the non-return valve) is the climate control system, is this correct?

Regular vacuum is the preferred method but you will need a distributor with advance to use it. The one you have MAY be a candidate for conversion but as you are in the UK I would source one there.

Ported vacuum was a crude emissions method, don't use it!

Thank you, I will just cap the port on the carburettor!
