    Lower Ball Joint

    Hello,

while I removed the track control arm from the front suspension I wanted to check the lower ball joint, which was replaced 4 years ago.
I also have a new (Powertune) ball joint as a spare to compare.

The existing ball joint I can turn / move very easily by hand. But I cannot feel any play. The spare ball joint is not moveable by hand.

    Now I wonder if
    a) the current ball joint has to be replaced
    b) the spare ball joint is okay

Could you give me advice, what seems to be correct, please?
How can I check both ball joints?

    Regards
    Gerd

Spare one sounds ok, they are stiff when new. Current one could be ok but why not just replace it while you've got it off, for the sake of £8 or so, it'll save you a job later on.

As Kithmo said Gerd, use the spare one.
Here are my favorite pictures: not too much in it.
