      This one goes to;

      135 Nm

      100 ft-lb

      1200 in-lb

There is a bigger one which covers a much greater range, i have borrowed this as they are around £350 new from snap - on.

A great tool if you are using it regular but if it's only getting used now and again every couple of years it's pretty expensive compared to a decent 'manual' one. Would be a good test to do to compare this new one with alternative cheaper ones.

          Phew ! that's a relief ! I can just imagine Lucy's reaction if you'd bought it. M.

if anyone is traveling to the United States take a look at Sears' range of Craftsman tools, they sell these electronic torque wrenches for a much more reasonable price. Rumor has it that their Craftsman stuff is re-badged as Snap-On

Bought a Norbar standard click stop one from Halfords in about 1978.

I have easy access to the torque wrench calibration rig in our company (helicopter production line). It's still accurate after 30 years! Lot cheaper than Snap-On.
              The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Can anyone confirm whether Snap-on was called BluePoint at one time. I still have my old BluePoint tools when I used to be a Sheet Metal Fabricator. They are the Dogs really solid and still as new.

                Sukh.

                  Hi Sukh,

BluePoint is the Anglicised version of Blaupunkt; a German firm. Snap-On is a USA firm. Fairly sure they aren't related, but who know with corporate bonding these days :?

                  Dave

The wonders of 'Google'. Apparently Snap-On do a Blue Point range of tools. For example:

                    Andy,

I think that rumor is just a rumour!

I've got Snap On tools for work (imperial) however I bought Sears Craftsman for all my metric spanners and sockets. They are not the same quality, or price, however they also carry a lifetime guarantee and I haven't broken one yet.

                    regards,

                    Raoul

P.S. Talking of broken tools, I used to work as Chief Engineer for a regional airlinein Papua New Guinea, one of theguys came into my office one day and told me that he had broken the anvil! How does anyone break an anvil?

the guys in the Snap On vans seem to sell Blue Point stuff as well - never understood why - when you have a name and reputation like Snap On why use another name ?
