    Drivers side parcel shelf

The blue stag in TW magazine this month seems to have a parcel shelf fitted to the drivers side

Can anyone shed any light on this as i always though the stag could do with one.I know that the triumph 2000 and 2500 range had a drivers side shelf and wondered if it was one of them or a LHD stag shelf made to fit

I've only known 2000 ones modded, as I would think lhd Stag shelves to be a bit thin on the ground

I met a guy with a white stag (sorry, can't remember his name)at a local car show who had fitted parcel shelves from a 2000 to both sides.

Thepassenger side waslarger than the stag one as it didn't have the big cut out which i think was to leave space for aircon.

I'm sure he said they were easy to fit as all the mountings were the same as the stag.

It is also possible to swap inicator stalk to the other side as per modern cars,ie stop using wipers instead of indicators !.

I saw this in the monthly mag a long time ago ,it was a feature about the best mods carried out etc.

About time that subject was covered on the forum,I know some members have done some incredible performance improvements.

A member of the Hertfordshire group - Steve Bedford - has done this. His writeup is below.

                · Triumph 2.5 driver’s and passenger parcel shelves. The passenger one is wider and removes the wasted space reserved for the air con fans at the side of the heater. It’s also hinged at the back giving access to the wiring relay panel without removing the parcel shelf. The driver’s side one picks up existing captive bolts behind the side carpet

                Hope you find this useful.

                  swap the indicators!!!

                  no

i always thought the old way was correct for a RHD car as i could have my hand on the gear leaver whilst flicking the indicators. something i alway notice is impossible on a modern.........which i assumed are set up for LHD but kept the same in the UKto save costs.

seriously thougheach to their own, i am always turning the wipers on when going between cars.

That's the guy I was talking to.

Met him at Croxley Green at their annual 'Classics on the Green' evening show.

Iremember there were lots of other little mods he had made as well as adding the parcel shelves.

Swapping Indicator and Wiper arms would not be difficult to do but the wiper arm would work by pushing up not down, could also be confusing unless I have missed something ?.

I've got a loan Skoda sat outside, it's wipers work by pushing up so it's not that uncommon.

I thought that all countries who drive on the left have indicators on the right and all countries who drive on the right have indicators on the left, even modern cars. Terry

                            mmmmmmm.............

BL made the change about 1980 with the release of the Metro and all new models from then - the Dolomite and Princess etc continued with the legacy RH stalk until production ceased, but I seem to remember (and I might be wrong) they didn't make Honda swap the indicator on to the left on the Acclaim. The home Japanese market Ballade (that Acclaim shaped model I believe never made it over here officially) it was on the right...... it was certainly on the left for the first Rover 213 in 83 which was the later model Ballade rebadged.

Yet my father-in-laws '95 import Celica still has the RH indicator stalk....

All 4 daily drivers in our house have wipers on the right and pushed up to operate so I would say it's very common. The only thing with changing theStag over is the symbols on the stalks are then upside down. Doesn't matter for the indicators but the horn is then upside down. Not really a big issue though....then again I don't find the wipers on the left a big issue in the Stag although I am guilty of setting the wipers off when I want to turn left on more than the odd occasion.....
