From the passengers side lift up the carpet over the tunnel by the heater and you will find a plate, undo the four screws remove plate and you will see the switch, and then unscrew.

I think Roger's advice is for a BW 35 box. On the BW 65, the switch is easily accessible from under the car, and is attached to the gearbox casing with a small bolt. All you have to do is remove the bolt, and pull the switch off the end of the shaft which operates it. It may need a bit of prising if it is tight.

Paulg .Be carefull don't pull on the wires. Disconnect the battery cut the wires .If you pull the wires you will bugger the inside up very poor switch in side ,And you will have to buy a new one at 80,00 plus .Undo the nut and the switch will pull off.Reconnect the wires when you put it back.Derek Hicks
Paulg. The switch has four leads on it .If you pull one out .it is had it .Three members in Norfolk/Suffolk.have had to buy new ones. You will be very lucky to fix it. I have a friend fixed one off mine . He said it was going to be the first and last time he will do it .Best of luck .Derek Hicks

Surely the only reason for removing it is to replace it unless you are dismantling the gearbox? As to cutting the spade connectors off the loom, that's a ridiculous statement. Just don't be heavy handed about it when removing them. .

Milothedog Nice to here from you .If the switch have been on a few years the wires have rusted on to the spades. If you pull one of them out its had it. Best off luck .Please let me know how you get on .Derek Hicks

They don't rust there brass Why would you be removing them if nothing is wrong with the switch and I can't let you know how I get on because mine is a 35 Do you replace all your electrical components this way. You must have a lot of new connectors on your car. Are they all red ones

Forum for members of the SOC. This is for technical matters and general Stag discussion
I also agree with Milo that it would not be sensible to cut off the spade connectors. If they are corroded on then it is often possible to get a small flat bladed screwdriver and open them up so they can be pulled off. Dereks original point about being careful when removing the wires was a sensible one - just don't agree with the solution.

Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!
Well what do you expect Jeff. The poor bloke ask how to take the switch off and it's suggested you use the same method as a breakers yard would use
I know Ian, it was just that there was no argument as to why to cut off the terminals (even though I understood his meaning). I took all 4 wires off my switch with no problems albeit a BW35, the terminals as you say are brass and did not obviously rust onto the spades so quite a severe method even if the switch is knackered anyway. Good Face book advice?
