    too many assumptions on your part

    1. you have no idea of OP location of his car. says Enfield in profile but doesnt mean that is accurate, there is a cold snap, ask anyone on the east coast and scotland
    2. you have no idea how much antifreeze op stuck in the first place, plenty is not a measure.
    3. you have no idea how much op considers is an occasional top up

    let me assume some stuff

    OP lobbed in a couple of litres of Blue Glycol, was that concentrate or ready mixed? dunno
    so was running at 20%ish mix topped up 3 litres since? dunno
    Now at risk of temperatures below 8degrees? dunno

    ambient temp here in the Chilterns has not risen above freezing point since Sunday

    so to say that it is "probably ok" is just silly in my opinion ( and we are all allowed those) hence my very funny tongue in cheek response to your post :P

    If however we are not allowed to challenge what we think is misleading advise then you have the answer to your statement "And some people wonder why there are not so many posts these days"

    no emojis because I dont want you to get any wrong signals

    At OP

    tester are widely available for less than the cost of a couple of core/freeze plugs, that is the only sure fire way to know
    No problem at all with different opinions -takes all sorts to make the world go round - but it is the way it is phrased. OK I may have mis interpreted the way you wrote your response but the "roll eyes" emoji was a bit too sarcastic as far as I am concerned. -especially when added to the comments about stripping the engine down to see if it was ok to start.

    Look at Goldstars print from the ROM, and the comments about protection and not running until warm - no different to what I said.

    Lets agree to differ and carry on a merry way.

      Light smattering of snow here today, with more on its way. Time to fit the winter wheels/tyres to the VW Polo....

            Meteorlogically speaking, yes, Roger. But try telling the weather that!
