    Window Lift Wiring

    Hi all

As I eagerly await the return of my dash parts from Chapman & Cliff, I decided that having two different window switches (one original and one replacement without the arrows) looks a bit silly so I thought I would replace the old one so they both match.

However my old switch has Lucar connectors and the new replacement ones have a completely different setup using pins.

Does anyone know where to get the female harness/connector part as can be seen in the lower part of the attached picture (circled in red)? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

    Thanks

    Jeff

    Jeff.
Those female connectors were part of the wiring harness, and therefore are not available separately. I think you will have to do a bit of on line searching, or perhaps this Forum, to get a second hand one.

Thanks Mike, I was afraid of that. Maybe will have to just make do with the old one praying it doesn't fail.

Not sure that the originals had arrows on them. They do have round pins. Might be a jaguar switch.

Wow now I am totally confused.

Rimmer's lists the one with arrows and lucar connections (1.jpg) as 'no longer available', so I assumed it was the original.

Rimmer's lists the blank version as available and it has pins. (2.jpg).

So if Stags didn't come with the arrows originally then I assume a PO has re-wired mine and removed the pin connector?

          Thanks

          Jeff

Another option is to recon old ones. they come apart easily with care and the contacts can be cleaned up. Cosmetically you can either play around and polish up the lever part or just by an aerosol of plastic satin black and paint it.

If you need to use a switch with a different type of terminal, the original wiring diagrams identify wire colour to pin no regards connections. you may need to enlarge the drawing though as the font is quite small

I think Jeff originally said he had two different types of switches, and he wanted to replace them,so they were the same

Yes Dave, I realise that. I was just giving him another option should he wish to fit S/H ones.

Oops! Sorry for the confusion. I got mixed up with the interior light switch which does have Lucar connections. The window switches DO have round connectors.

Thanks all for the advice and tips. I will have to try and figure out how to rewire it so both switches are the blank original versions.
