    Electronic ignition

I’m having starting issues I have the sort that you just drop in distributor about £35 from show years ago , what are recommendations for a good setup , also I have Weber carb so could be that ???

Chuck out the cheapo ignition unit and fit Aldon/ Pertronix, they're the same. The Weber has side issues but poor starting is not usually one of them.

Not done it yet, MGB still running with one fitted and so is the Stag.

Have you had experience of these units failing ???

Do we know its the ignition that is the problem ???

all of last year it has taken about minute to start from cold and the same when hot starts instant anything in between , I have just had knee reconstruction so not able to do anything and bored stiff so thought I would ask and gets anything needed for when I’m up and about

Check to see if the ballast bypass circuit is working

Use a multimeter to check the coil is getting battery voltage from the additional small terminal on the starter solenoid when the starter is cranking the engine.

Mine didnt last long. Left me stranded.

Replaced with pertronix and flame thrower.

the improvement performance and smoothness was really impressive but mindful of another failure I keep a base plate with twin points and condenser in my glove box

Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

I’ve had 2 cheapos fail one accuspark, one powerspark. Don’t quite get the logic of buying 2 cheap units in case one fails rather than one high quality unit for £10 more (£70 for 2 cheaps or £80 for Pertronix)
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't
