This is a much dicussed subject and a search on "tonneau" will probably reveal to you that there are different reports of which seal is the "proper" one and then many variants on which way around it is fitted. The two basic types in discussion are a box section with a flap or an 'anvil' shaped section. There is evidence for both of these types having been fitted.

Hi Drew, thanks for your reply, silly billy me didn't think to do a search of tonneau cover. My rubber seal is fitted different to that of the diagrams in the posts, been like this since I bought the car 2 years ago, so didn't know any different. I am trying to upload some photos, thanks again.

Drew, my understanding of a seal is to prevent water entering a channel or aperture and any residual water would flow via the channel to the outlet tubes with the assistance of the groove in the rubber seal only it doesn't because the slope of the channel is not enough and the water lies in it and corrodes the channel. Mine are corroded at the corners where it is level. Not sure it should be glued? My penneth worth

Hi,had a similar problem when I bought my stag last year, washed the car and water entered the boot via the hinges and went under the back seats !!. Found the seal was fitted wrong way.The water now runs down the channel and out through the drain tubes.Attached FilesYou do not have permission to view this gallery.
