    Hi,

Would someone be able to take a picture of the mechanism that supports the first cross rod in the frame is supported please.

I have outline the section in the below to show where I mean.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I am trying to reassemble a Stag frame and need some help.

Could someone post a picture of how the below looks in real life please?

I am interested in the supporting bits that attach to the first rod that crosses the car.

    Thanks

I have just noticed you posted a few times on the same topic. I have gone through the process of fully reconditioned my frame, including getting the alignment perfect and the right spacers in the right place, including several modifications I thought were critical. Its a well designed frame and it works very well when it is aligned and adjusted properly. I have uploaded some photos for you. All frames end up having different tolerances so what spacers are best used on one vehicle may not be the optimum fit for another.. Start with what the factory Parts Catalogue shows and work from there. What condition are your bolts like on that 'rod'? What size spacers do you have? Are they the factory originals?

Not wishing to repeat what StypeR says...
Hopefully you have all of the parts in the first two photos, and the end result of the area you are looking ata should look like this. There are a large number of screws/spacers/nuts that must all be fitted in the correct places and the correct orientation for the frame to function smoothly.
      Hope that helps, Steve.

It looks like you've had the same problem I've just experienced with mine - the small spot weld, halfway along above the top of the door window, breaking and then losing the nearby nut with the hood going floppy around there. I was considering a pop rivet solution as you seem to have done (your pic 2893) - has it proved strong enough since?

Thats what happens when the soft top is forced too hard. A pop rivet may be a solution but there is very little clearance behind as the inner hood stick sits around 3mm behind and a rivet may foul that stick. See if you can remove this stick and tale it to a workshop with a welder.

Having the frame working perfectly the way it was designed from the factory is a fairly hefty job, with many here at the SOC forum able to give you the right advice. Can you please be more specific in what problem you are having. Uploading some photos of the problem will help you. Happy to give you specific photos or advice to help. Cheers.

Neil, re the pop rivet - yes, its holding up fine, I've had no more problems. I can't recall, I may have used one of the larger rivets, 1/10 in. Hardtop is on now so I cannot check.
PS I seem to recall that the weld was ok but I wanted to brace it. the other side, 2902, was fine.

those side rods should be straight btw, they all bend for one reason or another and are made from soft cheese, but they should be straight.

                  Just saying

Yes, it was a well knackered hood that came as a spare when I bought my Stag. Most of the joints had seized through being stored outside (under a cover) for a few years.
