    Wiper problem

    Hi can anyone help me please my wipers stopped working fuse ok, all positions of the switch not working is it the motor or switch ?? thank you Martin

    Put "WIPERS" in search box - Lots of info on Forum - I had this problem. After a while mine would start working again. Sometimes just by wiggling the wiper arms. Don't pull the switch towards the driver, that works a delay of sorts.
    Eventually swapped the delay relay in relay board, then wiper boxes, then as those made no difference the motor - Quite a longish job to work through everything.

      There is a live park contact on the wiper motor that may be the problem or it could be a dirty comutator on the motor armature. Either will mean pulling the motor out to bench test after a clean up. Remove the wiper arms..electrical connections and clamp..Remove the nut from the tube to motor and pull the motor and cable out. When removing the round cover from the back of the motor gearbox be sure to mark it' location as this can be the motor park point on some motors. When bench testing keep your fingers well away from the cable as not only grease but can be very sharp.

        Each to his own, but before dismantling wipers & motor etc., I personally would take a multimeter and check whether current is getting to and from the right pins at the right time and that the earths is ok. This would apply to both the switch and the motor connection. There are some dedicated wiring diagrams for the wiper circuit in the Technical Section.

          I’m afraid that the “test by substitution” method is becoming rather prevalent and leads to excessive expense and no real understanding of the problem. If the fuse looks okay, then a voltage test either side will prove it. If there is voltage either side, then by removing the steering column housing top (two screws) you can test the voltage on the wiper switch. From there, it’s just a case of following through until the fault is located......
