Hooray!! the last stags have gone Tax free last weekend!

Just rec'd updated logbook back from dvlc, all ok changed to historic and free tax from 1april.
however what a caper, took it to local PO on 2 april who said it was not a tax free vehicle [built 1/1/77 1st reg 1/1/78] rang dvlc and spoke to a very nice young welsh lady who said yes it was ok send it in. Sent 2/4/18, after 31/2 weeks decided to chase it up and was told it was being returned to me not changed and I shoud complete a form v10 and take it to the PO, after another week rang dvlc again and spoke to a chap who said change was completed and it was taxed [free] from 1/4/18.
What a performance, but ok in the end.

Got logbook back today Historic vehicle

Having just got my Stag MOT’d I went on line to “tax” my car. Guess what? I have had to pay for 6 months tax despite the DVLA saying all cars pre April 78 are tax free. I now have to go down to the local post office with the log book MOT and insurance certificate to start the process of getting the car declared as historic etc.

My V5 arrived while I was away on holiday, the Stag is now showing as Historic, as it’s taxed monthly, do i just stop the monthly direct debit, or do I need to do anything else?
