    Air Intake Temperature Control System

This seems to have been disabled before I bought my Stag, is this a problem?

Very few worked correctly and the majority I would thing were deliberately disabled, I did repair mine but don't think it has any effect on cold running so I shouldn't worry about it, at least you know what it is

Not really Martyn. It is an emission control device, and would probably also prevent the carburettors icing up in low temperature damp air. Provided the small spigot at the front of the manifold where the vacuum hose fitted is blocked off, the car should run perfectly well without it. Early Stags managed without!

They tend to fail in the "hot air intake" position, and if you run the car like that, it very much upsets the carbies. Perfectly safe to leave it disconnected if you don't want to put a new thermo valve in..

Thank you all for your replies, I now need to check that 1] the one way valve on the inlet manifold has been blanked off and 2] that it is set to cold air intake.
