There is a perfectly viable electric water pump on the market, maybe that's why no project is required.

Also of course Steve's (Stagdad's) fine piece of kit - not that I have it fitted because I have never had a problem on with my water pump in any Stag engine I've had..
but if I did, Steve's is the option I'd go for.

Jeff and Andy, apologies for slow response, but been a bit busy with this Xmas thing.

No sure if the exhaust is showing steam. It does look a bit white when it starts up but the ambient temperature has been quite low here, so hard to tell if its steam or just condensation. Will take a closer look next time I'm out and when it's hot to see if still emitting white exhaust.

Testing for exhaust gases is a great suggestion. I'll get that done next.

Hi Gord,

Mine didn’t steam. Hotter than normal temperatures, pressure and bubbles yes. Can be a very small leak that wouldn’t show as steam out of the exhaust.

Certainly in my case it is chicken and the egg scenario. Unsure if the HGF is the cause, or a symptom. It’s quite tricky. Regardless HGF needs addressing, but will return if cause was something else.

Everyone said don’t drive it you’ll make it worse. However, if you do have HGF and have to wait to get it fixed I would ensure you either drain coolant, or warm engine up regularly. This will prevent water pooling in the cylinders and rusting.

Fingers crossed for you that it’s not HGF.
