Actually I was thinking of the literally 1000s of defective AP clutch covers that wouldn't release when they were hot.
That used to drive me BESERK.
AP (Leamington spa remember!) refused to handle a single one on warranty, always claiming it was out of warranty or faulty fitting.
In fact they were world famous for having no warranty returns, cos they refused every single one on some spurious grounds or other....
Reminds me of the infamous TR6 020" piston scandal where the trade recycled 60 000 faulty pistons back into the market with no questions asked, once they knew they were all faulty machined and would seize up.......

I had problems with AP clutch covers in the 80's, I insisted someone came down from AP and watch me fit a new clutch and then take it for a test drive, after it was fitted he took it for a drive with me, after about 15 mins driving the clutch dragged badly, he admitted there must be a fault with the clutch that was fitted, he came back to me a few days later and said they had found a problem with the spring ring and recalled all stock.
Don't get me started on Hepolit piston rings for the Stag, it almost put me out of business, after months of examinations of blocks, pistons, piston rings they still said there was no problem with there products, I had to fit Cord rings to cure the problem, I hate cord rings but they worked and possibly saved my company back then, just after that they recalled all stock of pistons and rings and came out again a few months later with a re designed bottom ring set.

wonderful, I knew I could rely on you to come out with some real gems Tony!
Before you know where you are, the entire forum will be heading down here to read the latest "train wreck", it's even better than the genuine cock ups from BL.
As soon as parts become only available in the after market rather than OEM, the 2nd law of thermodynamics kicks in big time ...Everything tends to the greatest chaos and entropy!
