Fuel Pump Problem

i had a problem with fuel pump on my 1972 stag. I have had a new fuel pump fitted and drove 3 miles from garage and car stopped. It seems that no fuel is getting to the clear fuel filters, consequently no fuel is getting to the carburettors. If I bash the pump after a while the car starts, drives a short distance and stops again.
Has anybody had this problem, grateful for any ideas.

Sounds like a u turn and trip back to the garage is needed. Depending on the pump could be the points sticking.

Yes, mine failed a couple of weeks ago and so I replaced it with a alternative cheaper plastic one from Robsport.

It’s certainly not as heavy as the old one and plastic washers wouldn’t be my first choice, but I’m curious to see how it performs.
