My hood frame has an elastic strap on each side which runs from the rear hoop - see pic. I haven’t seen these on other hoods or exploded views. What do they do and are they crucial to the operation of the hood?
thanks

This gallery has 2 photos.
These were later addition to production hoods to help the fabric fold in the right direction when lowering the hood. They were also available as a retrofit kit for earlier hoods.
Sorry I can't help with your question but I notice you have some small tabs with press studs in the zip out part of the rear window. Mine also has these but I can't find anywhere that they clip onto. Anybody know please?
So, the elastic isn't required for new hoods - what do they have instead or was it an unnecessary mod? No idea what the studded tab is for - often wondered myself.

Ritchie6 - I think these are for when you unzip the rear window you can roll it up and use the taps to keep it rolled up.

Cheers Stokeystag. I thought it might be something like that except there doesn't appear to be anywhere to click the press studs onto in order to secure them.
It's a few years since I saw an original hood but seem to recall that there were 2 studs on the strip below the window (immediately above the rear deck panel) so the tabs looped over the rolled window and were secured to the outside of that strip. Mark

Thanks Mark. I'll have a look next time I pull the car out of the garage. The previous owner used a large rolled up towel to put inside the rear window which preventing creasing when lowering the hood. This came with the car so I've tried both ways but am always a bit nervous about zipping out the rear window in case the zip gets damaged or stuck.
Thanks for that - I've been using the Grampian Stags ROM link at work - I'll check the actual ROM that I have at home - it should be the latest one because it's only 2 years old.
