Not sure which thread you mean. There are 3 different sizes on the compensator. I have detailed them below:

    1. Compensator body to carburettor screw. (2 larger slotted head screws) 2BA
    2. Compensator adjusting screw on the "spring strip" under the plastic cover (2 pozidrive) UNC 6-32
    3. Compensator plastic cover securing screw (2 small slotted head screws) 1/8" Whitworth

Don't you just love the mix of thread types!

I have checked these on a "new" untouched Stromberg, removed the screws and run a die down the thread to double check.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry don't really do metric but there still could be, I only checked 3 threads and they were all different! I think the real reason is getting a coarse/deep thread to go into the alloy body. A lot of small diameter threads would be too fine and strip easily.

Weather is cold, wet and windy here so couldn't get much done outside - and it satisfied my own curiosity - also had to sort out drain plugs with a 1/4" NPT thread for a friend so 2 birds with one stone etc.

yes I need the 2BA screws. Probably available at Halfords?
No time for mail order as I know somebody who can take them for me at the weekend from the UK.

The stuff I've bought from this guy arrived in a simple envelope in the post a day after ordering! He might have what you need. In any case, a great source in Germany for Imperial screws and bits.

That's fantastic info Roger - I'll have to think how to best capture the info on "weird" nuts and bolts in the Tech Section

I have a few "scrap" carbs lying around. PM me your address and I will put a couple of the correct 2BA screws in the post to you, do you just need these two? Post to Germany takes 3 to 5 days so if I post them today you should get them early next week.
