    oil leak

went for mot yesterday all passed ok but was a bit of a shock to see oil lots of it all over the down pipes and towards the back of the engine all the way down the exhaust to the centre boxes
I have had the gaskets done recently and done around 400 miles just waiting for 500 miles to take it for a re torque any ideas as to were the oil could be coming from
also is it dangerous to drive
obviously with the oil topped up
    comments appreciated

Favorite place for a leak is the half moon seals under the back of the cam covers, had to do the right hand one on one of my Stags a few weeks ago. Couldn't actually see where the oil was coming from despite cleaning everything off, but the leak has stopped since I did it.
It won't be dangerous to drive provided you keep the oil topped up, but it won't half stink the first time you do a long climb up a steep hill and the exhaust gets hot enough to burn the oil off!

      Most likely would be

badly fitted oil filter /gasket, or
Badly fitted rocker cover & rubber semi-circle grommets.

But the only way to find out is to get underneath with a large supply of tissue and a good torch and clean everything you see, then start car and leave running for perhaps 15 minutes. Then engine off and back under the car and look for fresh oil.

Unless the oil reaches brakes the car would not be dangerous to drive, unless a truly massive leak that would leave pools of oil underneath the car. But whatever you have a bank holiday coming when you can get down and truly dirty.

By the way if it is gearbox oil it usually has a distinctive smell as it burns off the exhausts.

Other places for leaks are the oil transfer housing seal, the pressure switch (either where it screws into the transfer housing, or the body of the switch), anywhere along the cam cover gaskets (often towards the front, but it runs back along the joint as the whole engine slopes down to the rear), etc.
I like to think of it as Triumph's carefully designed under-body anti-corrosion protection system!
