    Part alternative

hi just a quick question regarding a part no longer available.

the part is the plastic plug that holds the speaker grill in place. Stud/Fastener - Plastic part number The part number is https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-629288

I believe the part alternative might be http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/doortr...female-nylon-2

Or has anyone found an alternative method?

    can anyone help?

Yes. Find 4 rubber grommets that fit the holes and push the speaker grille in. Job done.

Sounds like DJT's solution is simple enough but just as a question, do you have one that's broken? Seems like a candidate for 3D printing if it's not too miniature. I have no reason to remove my grille to get a sample, it would be my luck that something like the grille would break in doing so but if you want to send me one (even a broken one if you have enough bits for template purposes), i'm happy to model it and print some off.

They may only be pennies or solved by other solutions but i'm spotting a few things on the Stag in the garage that might need a bit of 3D printed plastic help, like the bit of plastic trim at the bottom of the stainless B pillar seemed to snap in half the other day when I was doing nothing more than looking at it, that's one for when I have more time. I had 3 deliveries of Stag parts today which will be added to the growing bootfull of other parts to fit.

Interestingly there are 3/4 components to each fix stud for the grille, I only have 3, talk about over engineered and still don't work.

Well if someone wants to measure to a high degree of accuracy and post the design, i'm open to having a go. It looks like basically the peg is just held in by the rubber washers?

Good idea Dave. Simple solutions are often the best.

That’s a very good alternative. Problem for me is I don’t have any of the white plastic bits that are salvageable. So still stuck as to what to do.

I can model off broken parts, as long as there's enough in each direction from which to determine measurements. If that's the case and you want to post me what you have, we can try that but I don't want to disturb mine in case they all break in the process.

                    Hi all

Were these ever made ? I too seem to be missing all of my fittings and whist the rubber grommet is a great idea, it would be nice to have correct looking fittings

I didn't bother making any as this alternate was already posted.

Ah- ok thanks, and did they fit ok, my speaker grill simply has the black posts on the back, they will slide snugly into these alternatives with no other fittings ?

                        Thanks

I don't know. That's the issue that I had, mine are all fine and I didn't want to start digging the grill out to try to extract one and cause a problem in the process.

OK, so now comes stoopid question N°23 in a collectible series of 100:

Why do you need to fix the grille in place? Is it so that it doesn't fall out when you roll the car over, or if you drive over a patch of land where gravity has been eradicated? My grille sits there quite comfortably due to aforementioned gravity without any stoppers, plugs, clips or whatever.

.... just curious to know ...

                              Drew
                              The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137
